Brush Lettering in the Greenhouse 3/19/16
WHERE: The Greenhouse at Dos Pueblos Orchid Farm
Goleta, California
WHEN: March 19th, 10am-2pm
PIE BY Pie For Breakfast (Jordan Thomas)
With a welcome revival of all-things tactile in a world becoming ever-more digitized, the evidence of a human hand behind work can make all the difference. This is the philosophy that drives both sisters in their lives & art - Joya with lettering & illustration, and Jordan with pastry & baking - and is at heart of this workshop. And what could be more deliciously tangible than home made pie & painted letters!?
I'm glad you agree. Hand lettering is everywhere these days for good reason, so no matter your motivation this workshop is the perfect way to learn a skill you will use for cards, gift tags, place cards, wrapping paper, your to-do lists, and anything else you can dream.
With plenty of time for one-on-one instruction from Joya in this 4-hour class, you will learn basic lettering & design concepts & terminology, get comfortable with the brush alphabet, and turn it all into a finished piece to take home. Materials are all included, so you'll be set up nicely when you leave to continue your practice.
Pastry-goddess-sister Jordan Thomas of Pie For Breakfast will be providing mid-day treats, including her infamous pies, and we'll have lots of time for treating ourselves & getting to know one another. We want to be friends!
We are so thrilled to be partnered with Beth Kuttner, proprietress-extraordinnaire of the Dos Pueblos Orchid Farm greenhouse, and her Homespun Workshop & Craft Fair series. (You guys are not going to want to leave - so pretty!) Directions will be sent to participants closer to the workshop date.
We are so looking forward to making letters & eating pie with you (our dream day) - if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us at joya.rose.thomas@gmail.com.
